Lesson was at 10am this morning and I have to say that I regretted not taking the school bus up to my class block. It was a very long walk under the hot sun! This is one thing in which I really don’t like – the sun. The weather here is hotter than in Singapore and this afternoon’s tour around the school left me with a slightly sun burnt face now.

So anyway this was how our classroom looked like.

No aircon and the fan function was the opposite. 1 is the strongest spinning power while 5 is the least powerful. We on at speed 5 for like 15 mins before realizing this mistake. O.o

During lesson the most interesting thing that I’ve learn is the 18.3 vs 15. This meant that in the US, if the doctor speaks to a patient for less than 15 minutes, he’ll more likely to be sued by the patient but if he speaks to the patient for at least 18.3 minutes, he’ll be safe. Haha. 3 minutes do make a lot of difference eh?

So we had our school tour in the afternoon. We first went to the school of Information Engineering. Nothing much around there as we do not know much regarding engineering. But we saw the ugly side of the students. They smoke and spit outside their classrooms! Back in Singapore we do not spit and the student will smoke outside the school compound. Hmmm.. This is something new that I learnt.

School of Information Engineering:

Their university classroom look like our primary school classroom.

Their school toilet

Notice the height of the door

Almost all their chairs got moulds

Next we went to the School of Life Sciences. My goodness! It’s even further down the road. I have to admit that they have more facilities than what we have in Singapore. Perhaps we spent more money investing in aircons than on the equipments. And they have more courses than what we have back in Ngee Ann Polytechnic such as BioInformatics. I heard from my lecturer that this is a tough course. So anyway though their school has better facilities, it is dirtier and has no aircon so if I have the choice, I would rather study in Singapore.

Our school of Life Science

They have this life specimen

They used this for their "pharmacetics" lab practical

They have alot of students in a class.

We only have one or two fume hood in the lab but they have one each!

That brown liquid smelt like broth.

After the tour we were so hot and tired that we didn’t feel like walking down back to our dorm. So we waited for the school bus to fetch us. There, we showed our kiasu-ism again. We spaced out between ourselves so that if the bus stops at any point, we would be the first to get up the bus. Unfortunately, we still lost to the locals and can only board the bus only when they’ve gotten up. Geez. Why isn’t there a queuing system?

Back in the dorm we have to wash our clothes everytime we bathe finish. Then continue doing our assignments. No free time to travel far these days. Life’s pretty mundane. I need to go shopping!
